Our Weekend Activities...

Friday night, I went to a movie with Shawn's sister, Beth, Beth's friend, and Shawn's brother's wife, Michelle. We went and saw Night's in Rodanthe. I have to say that I liked the book a lot better, but I think I would feel differently had I saw the movie first. Isn't that the way it always is??? I LOVE Nicholas Sparks' books, though! He is a great writer and it's no wonder they make his books into movies (Message in a Bottle, A Walk To Remember, The Notebook, & now Nights in Rodanthe)! But the movie WAS good. It was fun to get out of the house and have a "Girls Night Out!"
My parents were in town (they live in Central Point, Oregon) for the weekend so we decided to meet up with them on Saturday morning at the Zoo (along with my brother, Jake, and his two kids, Jordan and Sophie). This was Kason's first experience at the Zoo and he had a blast! He would "examine" the animal he was looking at for a moment then he would get all excited and point and say, "WOW!" We spent the rest of the day with my parents in Salt Lake and later that night, we had a big dinner with my Dad's two sisters and their families.

The "famous" white alligator! They said he'll be gone "in a week and a half" so if you haven't seen him, get going!

Just some interesting info hahaha! Could you imagine giving birth to a 150 lb, 6 foot tall baby?!?! AND being pregnant for over a YEAR!!! Holy CRAP!!!

Kason was yelling at something here and I couldn't figure what! Finally after looking hard enough, I figured out he was yelling at this "little" animal:

I think he was trying to wake him up but he wouldn't budge! Haha!

***If you want to see more photo's of our Zoo trip, go to the "Our Family Life" site, click on "Album", then click on the "Zoo" photo.

Sunday morning was my niece's blessing. She is a sweet little girl! My parent's had to leave as soon as it was over. It was sad to see them go but hopefully we'll see them soon (I'm trying to plan a trip to Oregon in the next month or so).

"Our Family Life"

Ok so it's still a work in progress, but when you all get a minute, you should click on the "OurFamilyLife.com" logo to the right. Shawn's work - KiddieKandids - is offering this to their customers and the employees get it for free! Pretty cool!!! I'm still going to do this blog, but this new thing is where I will post "albums" (too many pictures to put on here haha) and other fun things. So play around with it and like I said, I'm still working on it so sorry about the empty tabs for now.

Backward Shoes

Another thing Kason has figured out how to do is put on his little blue sandals. The first time he did it (about a week or so ago), they were on the correct feet and I was shocked he did it all by himself! Today he decided to put them on and he put them on backwards and was walking all over like he did it right! It was super cute and I got a good laugh. Haha!

In this picture, he's checking himself out in our garbage can (it's a chrome can so we catch him looking at himself, making faces, or talking to himself)! Haha!

I just love that Kason is learning how to do new things each day! He never ceases to amaze me!

"What the heck are these?!"

Kason has figured out how to open and close all the bedroom/closet doors in our house. I can't believe he's tall enough to open them! So we had to buy some door knob covers and it was funny to see Kason's reaction to them:

Fun with Family

About a week ago, my brother, Jake, came to visit us and brought his two little kids. Jordan is 2 (he will be 3 in November) and Sophie is 2 months old. It was a great visit! I hadn't seen Sophie since the day after she was born so I was just dying to see her! She is such a cutie! I wanted to get a picture of Kason "holding" Sophie and as you can see in the photo, he wasn't really happy to oblige! He didn't even want to touch her! Little stinker!

It was SO cute - Sophie was just laying on the mat and Jordan came up and layed right by her! I think he's going to be a very protective older brother as they get older!

Kason decided that touching Sophie's toes were ok haha!

Sleepy Boy!

I just have to show you how CUTE my little guy is! Kason decided to wake up at about 5:15 this morning. And, of course, he DIDN'T go back to sleep!!! VERY frustrating for me but I guess it's part of the joys of bein a mom! Anyway, I was holding him while checkin out all the blogs and he decided he wanted down. The next thing I noticed was this:

I love it when he falls asleep just anywhere out of pure exhaustion! He's my sweet little boy and I love him so much!

Smith Family Reunion in St. George

This past weekend we went down to St. George for a family reunion. We left Friday morning and got to St. George around 4ish. While we were driving, everyone else was hiking in Zion National Park. After unloading all of our stuff, we met up with the rest of the family at a splash park.

All Kason would do is go up to the spouts and barely touch the water. He wouldn't walk in them at all! But when he did touch the water he would giggle to himself. It was pretty cute.

Shawn had to walk him into the fountain then he was out just as fast! He did not want to be in there!

My cousin's little boy had his foot over one of the spouts and Kason was standing in the line of it. Then he started to take his foot off and it got Kason right in the face. At first Kason was like, "What's in my face?" Then he realized he didn't like it very much and this was his face.

A great "Family Photo Opp"

This park was pretty cool! Besides the fountain in the previous pictures (like the one at the Gateway), it also had a very shallow river running through it. I would splash my feet then Kason would copy me - it was pretty funny!

We found this little statue of a pig at the park and just had to get a picture of Kason "riding" it.

We got up early Saturday morning and met everyone at Sand Hollow. There were two boats we could ride on and fun activities on the beach. Kason and Shawn experienced their first boat ride ever!

The sand wasn't brown, it was RED! Just like the red rocks you see everywhere in St. George. It was pretty crazy!

SMILE Shawn!!!

Kason definitely was in his element here! He loved the lake, loved the toys, loved the sand, and on and on and on!!!

Kason seemed to like the boat ride... He didn't really show any emotion but I don't know if he could with that life jacket on haha! If you look at his hair, it's all spikey. He WONT wear hats so I had to put a TON of sunblock on his head and in his hair - poor kid!

I thought this was too cute! He fell asleep on the boat. He fell asleep sitting up then we laid him down on the boat floor.

I had a great experience too! I went on a FABULOUS tube ride! My cousin's boat had two tubes tied together so you could have "tube wars." I'm not a wild and crazy girl - I had only been in a tube once before (like 4 years ago) and that was a pretty mellow ride. My cousin, Dave, wasn't pretty mellow! HAHA!!! No it was great though! I had a BLAST!!! I think I never wanted to ride wild and crazy because I was afraid to fall out, but I definitely did - TWICE!!! My "war" buddy was my cousin, Natalie, and only I fell out the first time. So I got back in my tube and went at it again. My cousin got a video of our second ride and if I can get it from her, I'll post it later. But we BOTH fell off the second time around! CRAZY but FUN!!!

After spending the day at Sand Hollow, we went back to our hotel, got all cleaned up (TRIED to wash the sunblock out of Kason's hair), then went out again to the final "get-together" of the reunion. We met up at a park and had BBQ beef sandwiches and some salads. The kids got to go "fishing" for some prizes too.
Kason spent a good half hour going up and down these stairs on the playground!

Kason is sitting on Shawn's shoulders. Something got him smiling...

Fishin for some prizes!

He got some pretty cute sungalsses and, if you look around his neck, a candy necklace, and some other fun prizes. He devoured his candy necklace and the next picture is of him after he was done sucking on it haha!!!

Another "Family Photo Opp":

After a day full of fun and adventures, it didn't take long for Kason to fall asleep - thank goodness haha!!!(BTW he had another bath before he fell asleep here - I washed his hair a total of 3 TIMES to get that darn sunblock out of his hair!!!)

If you want to see more photos of this reunion (I took about 95 pictures and wasn't about to post them all here!), go to: http://s200.photobucket.com/albums/aa279/shawnterry987654321/2008-09-07/?albumview=grid

The Six Quirks Tag

Kelley tagged me and I had to come up with six quirks about myself. Here are the rules:
-Link the person who tagged you
-List 6 of your quirks
-Tag 6 other bloggers by linking them
-List the rules on your blog

1- When I hang our clothes up, everything has to be "facing" the same way and I hang all of my t-shirts together, long-sleeves together, pants together, etc.

2- All of our movies and cd's are alphabatized! I know, kinda dumb and crazy! HA!

3- Shawn would probably say that one of my quirks is that I write too many "thank you" cards! I didn't think that was a bad thing haha! (not that "quirks" are a bad thing either)

4- I guess since this is our family blog, I'll list one or two of Shawn's - his socks are folded inside out. You don't get it? HAHA! If you take one sock and make it inside out, then take another sock and make it inside out, then fold those two together you have what he insists I do! He says if I fold it the other way - the NORMAL way - spiders could crawl in them and bite his toes or something. I fold MY socks the "normal" way and haven't had a spider bite yet...

5- Shawn will insist to wash his own eye glasses. I've offered many times to wipe them off or wash them, but he just says, "I'll do it." So I just let him wash mine too haha!

6- Ok one more for me - I can't stand pickles on hamburgers or sandwiches. I have to pick them off and throw them away! I will eat the sweet pickles (NOT dill!) by themselves but not on stuff. And I'll eat the small pickle bits in potato salad or whatever but not on hamburgers.

I don't think I have 6 people to tag but the "6" that I tag are Amy (I know, you were already tagged by Kelley, sorry!), Becky, BethAnna, Brandis, and Marcia.

Sleepin in the swing!

On Sunday, we went to my Grandma and Grandpa Smith's house. Our church gets out at 12:00pm and we left shortly after we got home. I thought it would be a perfect time to go because Kason could take a nap in the car on our way there (it takes about an hour to get from our place in Ogden to there's in Salt Lake). But did he take a nap?!?! NO WAY!!! So we got to my Grandparents house and ate a fabulous lunch then Shawn took Kason out to the swing. If I haven't said it before, I'll say it now - Kason LOVES to swing! If we try to take him out he'll cry and get so mad. So he swung (ha! is that even a word?) for a little while then we went inside and played with some toys. After getting bored with the toys, we went back outside and swung some more. I knew he had to be tired because it was about 4:00 and he still hadn't had his nap. So he was just swinging and Shawn and I were talkin with my grandparents and my aunt and uncle then all of a sudden we look over and he's asleep! HAHA! It really was the cutest thing! So I got a few pictures and a little video of it. I'll apologize now for the sideways video! I took it with my phone and couldn't figure out how to rotate it...
