Whew, it's over...

Have you ever felt sad that Christmas is over? You spend so much time decorating and shopping, and listening to music, and watching good Christmas movies, and it's all over in one day?!?! Sometimes I feel sad, but this year I don't feel sad. We had a WONDERFUL Christmas and I'm so grateful I got to spend it with my awesome husband and my adorable son! This month was quite busy going to parties and all sorts of other crazy stuff, that I'm glad I can now relax. But I really do love this time of year and it's so fun to see Kason experience Christmas as he is getting older and thinks everything is so cool!

Tuesday night, we went to my grandparents house for the "Smith Party." We had a yummy dinner, put on a live nativity with all the grandkids, opened presents, and had some tasty ice cream and cookies. I got the privilege of making all the cookies and do you know how many I made?!?! Well I made a few more than I actually took but I had to try a few hehehe! I took 123 cookies!!! Here is a picture of the nativity in my grandparents backyard. Sorry it's dark, but you get the idea...
Wednesday night, we went to the "Dimond Party." We ate some good dinner, had some fun entertainment of karaoke, did the Hokey Pokey, and of course the fabulous pinata.

We were pretty lucky on Christmas morning - Kason didn't wake up till about 8:30! Santa brought him a little bike this year and he just loved it!
Oh wait! What's that?!?! Kason turned around and noticed the stockings, so he had to go check them out.
Now back to the bike!

It was hard to get Kason to open all of his other gifts because he was too excited about his bike! He kept going back to it haha!

What a disaster!!!

I got Shawn and Kason this fun Marble Racer thing. It keeps Kason VERY entertained!

Later that day, we went to my sister-in-law's parents house for lunch. They have this reindeer that sings and farts and every time it farted, Kason thought that was the funniest thing!!!

I feel so blessed to have such a wonderful family. This Christmas was the best and as I mentioned, I'm not really sad it's over. I'm just excited to really try to keep the true meaning of Christmas in our home and hearts all year long.

Kason's "Stats"

We took Kason to the Doctor last night for his 2-year check-up. I have a tiny, tall baby! Haha!

Height: 34 inches = 40th percentile

Weight: 23.5 pounds = 5th percentile

Head Circumference: 50.3 centimeters

So, since his 18-month check-up, he grew 2.5 inches, gained about 2 pounds, and his head grew about 1.5 centimeters. The Doctor said he's staying pretty consistent with his growth, so I'm happy about that (he makes me worried sometimes with the picky eater that he is!!!).

Kason's Birthday

As you read in a previous post, Kason turned 2 on Monday. Last night we celebrated his birthday with his cousin, Skyler (who turns 7 on the 20th) at Classic Fun Center in Layton. I'll get to the Classic details in a minute but I have to tell you what we got Kason for his Birthday. When we went to Enterprise back in October, Kason thought the glow-in-the-dark stars in one of the rooms were awesome so we had to get him some for his room too. So Shawn has had fun putting up TONS of stars in his room (I told him that if we ever move HE gets to take them ALL down haha!). We just figured we would make that his birthday present. He loves them! Every night, while the stars and "charging" (with the light on), we kiss him goodnight, lay him in his bed, and then we turn off the light and he says, "WOW!" It's so funny cause he says it every night! He also got a new pair of jammies that have stars and outerspace things on them. I also made him a star cake! Thanks to my cousin, Becky M, who gave me a great idea of making my own cake pan! Even though it took quite a while to make the pan, I thought it was fun to do. I would suggest NOT making a pan with sharp corners as I did with the stars! That was quite difficult, but I managed to get it done haha!
Ok now on to the party... As I said we went to Classic Fun Center. They had this thing called "Pirate's Cove" that was a huge Jungle Gym type thing. Of course I couldn't get Kason to climb up in it so instead he had fun playing with:Gates! Yes you heard me, he loved playing with the gates that lead into the different activities! Anytime I would pick him up to move him so people could get by, he would scream and kick his legs! Sheesh! I don't know if I'm ready for the "Terrible Two's" stage!!! Later I had a couple of his older cousins take him around:He also liked going in the bouncy thing (all for about 5 minutes haha!):Here are a couple pics of Kason's cousins:

Jordan

Mason (sorry the lighting was really bad there)

Terryn

Skyler - the Birthday Girl

Jake (my bro) and Jordan

Here are a couple of Kason opening his presents. I don't know if you can see his arm in the first photo, but he has wrist bands on it. He fidgeted with those all night! He hated wearing those and when we got in the car to head home he cried for me to take them off! I thought they were cute, though cause I've never seen wrist bands on such a tiny wrist before haha!

We had a fun time, and I think Kason did too for the most part. We sure love you, Kason!

He likes snow now?!?!

When we got back from our weekly grocery shopping trip last Saturday, it was snowing! It was the cutest thing... Kason gets out of the car and walks out and puts his hands out trying to touch the snow. He was smiling and giggling haha! So as of today, I have figured out that he likes to touch the falling snow, but he DOES NOT like to walk in it, sit in it, or even touch the snow that's already fallen on the ground! He is a very silly boy!

Temple Square

Last Friday night, we went to Temple Square with my brother and his kids. We chose a TERRIFIC night to go too! HA just kidding! I guess there was a concert going on at the Conference Center so it took FOREVER to find a place to park - we ended up parking on 300 East and 300 South and if you know downtown Salt Lake it was quite the walk to Temple Square! We bundled up the kiddos and had a fun time seeing all the lights. I thought Kason would be a little more excited about it, but I think he enjoyed the lights anyway.

Happy Birthday, Kason!

Today, my little Kason turns 2!!! Two years ago he came into this world at 7:23pm. I am just blown away at how fast the time has gone by. He truly brings so much joy into our family and I feel so blessed that he is our son.

(Oh my gosh do you realize how hard it is to pick 2 years worth of photos?!?! Sheesh! I think the last photo was taken in July and that's about when I started blogging so I figured there's plenty on here since then.)

Happy Birthday, Kason! We love you so much!!!!
