Photo Tag

I saw this tag on Alayna M.'s blog and thought it would be fun. You're supposed to open your picture files, click on the fourth folder, open the fourth picture and post it. I opened my fourth photo and actually got a photo of one of my school students from 2006. I figured I should keep that private so I'm posting picture #3 from the fourth folder. Here is Shawn, being his funny self and he'll probably be mad I'm posting it, but that's ok haha!
So now I tag anyone who wants to do this! :)

Quick Update

Hey there! This is gonna be short but I had to update you in case you were wondering (because I just know you were all sitting at the edge of your seats in anticipation of hearing this news hahaha) - NO I'm NOT pregnant, but... Kason DID stay the whole time for nursery again!!! YAY! That makes 2 weeks in a row and I'm so excited he's liking it now. His teachers are pretty awesome so I'm sure that has something to do with it or maybe it's the toys and kids but who knows at least he's going and staying haha!

I Finished!!!

I told you about Kason's quilt a couple posts ago... In case you forgot, I'll remind you haha! In May (I think) of 2007, I joined a quilt group in my Ward (when we lived in Bountiful). By July of that year, I finished the top of Kason's quilt. I bought the batting, the lining, and yarn to tie the quilt but it just sat for over a year! We went down to Shawn's parents for Conference Weekend and Shawn's Mom and Grandma (wonderful ladies, I might add!) helped me tie the quilt. So, 3 weeks later, I finally finished binding the quilt! Kason LOVES his quilt. He lays on it and rolls all over it and says, "WOW!!!" He's not in a "Big Boy" bed yet, but when he is, I can't wait to put this on his bed...

The back is just a solid blue:

Here is a close-up of one of the blocks:

Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Cookies

It is definitely the time of year for these yummy cookies - so I want to share an easy and quick recipie with you all. This recipie comes from my sister-in-law, Melissa, so enjoy! You only need THREE ingredients:
1 pkg Spice Cake Mix
12 oz can Pumpkin
1 pkg Chocolate Chips
Mix DRY spice cake mix with the pumpkin until moist:
Add chocolate chips (the recipie calls for 1 pkg, but I found that's a lot! If you like lots of chocolate - go for it! Next time I make these I will probably just use half of the pkg). Drop by spoon on a greased cookie sheet:
Bake at 350 degrees for 10-13 minutes (I cooked mine for 12 minutes). I can get about 3 dozen cookies but it depends on how big (or small) you want your cookies. The end result:
This is what I did for my neighbors:

Nursery

Kason has been in Nursery for about 4 months and he hasn't enjoyed like I thought he would. He loves other kids so I thought - in June when he turned 18 months - that he would LOVE Nursery. But I was very wrong! He would last about 45 minutes then his teachers would bring him to me with tearful eyes. Then I was feeling really bad that I was making my baby do something that he really hated! BUT I wanted him to get used to it so I kept sending him in there.

This last Sunday was different, though! I work in the Primary now, so I told his teachers that if Kason has a hard time, they can take him to Shawn, who would be in the Gym for both of his meetings. After the first meeting, I peeked in the Gym to see if Shawn had Kason (and to give him the bag of books and snacks) and HE DIDN'T!!! After the second meeting and before Sacrament meeting, I went in to talk to Kason's teachers. I asked how he did and they said he cried for a few minutes but did great the rest of the time. YAY! I was so excited! So I walked into the chapel and saw Kason with Shawn sitting on the bench and Kason had his little crown on that he made. It was SO CUTE!!! He actually kept it on for awhile too (remember my previous posts saying that he hates wearing things on his head - so it surprised me that he kept it on!). I really wanted to take a picture with my phone but Shawn wouldn't let me take a picture in the Chapel!!! HAHA! I guess he had a point. Anyway we got home and I had to take a picture of Kason with his crown on (it says, "I can be an example"):
So we'll see if he stays the whole time next Sunday...

Is that frosting... or sour cream?!?!

One night last week we had taco's for dinner. We were cleaning up and Shawn came up with the great idea to let Kason lick the sour cream spoon!!! Of course he LOVED it (as you can tell from the picture!) so Shawn let him lick off some more! I have some CRAZY boys in my house... but I love 'em!

My Little Reader

This morning I was in the living room and I didn't hear Kason for awhile, so I went looking for him and this is what I found:He was in his bedroom looking at books - chapter books, I might add, but that's ok! I guess you could say this made me smile! A mother's (and ex-teacher's) dream that her child will love to read. Ok, ok I know he can't read yet, but the fact that he's at least LOOKING at them is something! Haha!

Ok try something cool: Put a colored sticky note over your flash and take a picture. If you use the flash, your picture will take on the hue of the paper. I used a hot pink sticky note here:
Sorry it's dark but I guess that's what you get for covering the flash haha! But it is pretty cool! I got the idea from the October 2008 FamilyFun Magazine. Here's another one with a green sticky note: I don't know what was up with this smile, but I thought it was cute anyway.

Snow in October?!?!

Yesterday morning (Sunday) we woke up to about 3-4 inches of that fabulous white stuff!!! So I'm thinking it's WAY too early for snow! After Halloween is fine, but OCTOBER 12th?!?!?! Anyway, we couldn't play in the morning because we had church at 9:00am but later I took Kason out to see if he would like it... He didn't! HA! Hopefully when he gets a little older he'll love to go out and jump in it...

The last one is his angry face - telling me, "Mom, I'm DONE with this stuff! Please stop making me stand in it!"

Trip to Enterprise

Last weekend (Conference Weekend) we went down to Enterprise, Utah to visit with Shawn's parents and Grandma. I like going down there because it's so quiet and we can do a lot of relaxin. And also, if we feel a little "antsy" and need to do something, St. George is only about 40 minutes away (we didn't go to St. George this time because there was a big marathon). We had a great time, though...

About a year ago, I made this quilt for Kason in my previous ward's quilt group. I got the top all done, bought batting, lining, and yarn to tie it and it just sat for a year! I decided I would bring it with me and if we had time to tie it, great! Well we had the time and I was SO excited to get it all tied. I'm sorry you can't really see the fabric, but when I get the edges all bound up, I'll show you the end results... Shawn had some fun playing with a childhood toy - Lincoln Logs! What do you think he's concentrating harder on? Balancing his tower, or the Conference talks???
Tada!!! But can you make it taller?
Yup! Ok any higher???
Ha! And you wonder why he's not an architect?!?! Haha!
Kason taking a nap (finally!) with Grandpa:
So, the not-so-smart mother that I am, forgot to pack jackets and it got pretty cold. Kason wanted to go "broom-broom" on the four-wheeler so I bundled him up the best I could - a pajama shirt under his t-shirt and grandpa found a scarf and helmet to keep it on! Haha poor kid! We had to take the scarf and hat off for him to go for the ride though - you have to remember that my son HATES wearing anything on his head!!!

Ok so Halloween is coming up and I need some ideas on what Kason can be - keeping in mind the "nothing-on-the-head" thing.....
