Quick Update

Gosh, it seems a lot of my time is being consumed with other things besides the blogging world! But some exciting things have happened since my last post of Kason breaking his wrist.

He now has his cast off!!! YAY!!! That was a tough 4 weeks - more for me than Kason haha! He did so great with it on. He never once pulled at it, or complained about it. Bath times were the worst part, but we managed through those. I saved the cast - I know, GROSS!!! - but I guess I had to save his "trophy" as my Dad called it. It will probably end up in the trash eventually haha!

With the cast off and being able to grip things better, Kason is now in a "Big Boy Bed"!!! Read the next post for more details...

We went on a great camping trip over Memorial Weekend! Again, for more details on that, keep reading... I have decided that camping IS pretty fun, and I'd really like to do more of it this summer, so we'll see.....

The Big Boy Bed

I'm not sure if I'm ready for this to happen yet, but I really don't want to see the Doctor again for a broken bone from falling out of the crib!!! SO..... Kason is now in a twin bed!!! It looks kinda funny - this tiny boy in this "huge" bed, but he LOVES it! Shawn's sister had an extra bed frame and said we could have it, all we needed was the mattress for it. We went shopping for the mattress and Kason wouldn't even sit on the bed at the store, so I thought for sure this was going to be a painful process. But when we got home from getting the mattress, we laid it out on the living room floor and he ran and jumped on it and was so excited! We got the bed frame this past Saturday and he was so eager to help Daddy put it together. Then once all together, he was climbing on it, then off it, just totally loving it!!!

Helpin Daddy!

All put together with the quilt I made him on it

So Saturday night, he slept really well in it (he did come out of his room about 10 minutes after we put him to bed, then I rocked him to sleep, but he slept the rest of the night just fine). Shawn put him down for a nap yesterday and he decided to play with toys for 2 hours instead haha! Then last night he went right to sleep when we put him down! When I put him down for his nap today, he got up twice to play with toys, but I was on him!!! Unlike my husband (hehehe love you Shawny), I went in his room and made him lay down and on the third time, he got the hint and went to sleep. So I'm way excited about the bed, but not too excited about Kason growing up!!! But I guess it's got to happen eventually...

Memorial Weekend

Over Memorial Weekend, we were invited to go camping with my sister-in-law's family. We went up to a campsite in Logan Canyon (sorry, I don't remember the exact name of the campground...) Friday night, and came home Monday afternoon. It was so nice to be able to relax a little and enjoy some good company! Of course it rained on us (but it seems to always rain on memorial weekend!) but we survived haha! Here are just a few of my favorite pictures from that weekend (if you want to see more, all of them are in the "OurFamilyLife" link under "albums"):

Throwin rocks into the stream

Kason loved this chair (it's Mason's) and he drug it everywhere haha!

We went on a walk and saw TONS of snails all over the side of the raod

I was SO nervous when Shawn took Kason down by this river! If you can't see it in the picture, the water was flowing VERY fast! Needless to say, they weren't down there very long haha!

My son is a CHAMP!!!

Last Monday, May 4th, Kason had a very interesting day! His new thing is laying on the floor or couch and says, "Goodnight!" Last Monday (at about 10:45am), he ran to the couch, laid down, and said "Goodnight," so I carried him to his bed and laid him in his crib and said "goodnight" just as a silly game. I left for not even a minute and next thing I heard was a bang then crying. The first thought that came to my mind was "Oh crap! He fell out of his crib!" I go in his room and, yup he's on the floor! He has NEVER tried climbing out of his crib before so I was shocked that he "succeeded." I picked him up and just held him and he kept crying. I didn't know if he had hurt himself (I know he hurt himself cause any fall like that would hurt anybody, but I mean I didn't know if he had broken anything) or was just crying because he was scared. I knew he bumped his head because he had a nice bump on his forehead with carpet burn on that bump. I gently massaged his arms and legs to see if he would cry harder in spots that could be broken. He was fine until I got to his right wrist. He would give me this horrible look of "MOM! Why did you do that?!?!" and then he would cry. I called his Dr's office and they wanted me to bring him in so they could check out his head and body.

Everything checked out fine but his Dr was concerned about his wrist so I took him to get it x-rayed. Sure enough, he broke it! He got what is common in children - a Buckle Fracture. They said it should heal really good and quick. They tried to just put him in a splint, but his arm is so small that even an extra small splint wouldn't fit! So he had to be put in a cast. He has to be in the cast for 4 weeks, but I'm telling you he is a CHAMP!!!! I thought he would cry and fuss when they did the x-ray and putting the cast on, but he just sat there and watched the lights on the x-ray machine, held his hand so still, and watched so good as they casted him up! I was amazed at how well he did!

Later that night I was talking to my parents and my Dad says, "I hate to say it, but this is only the beginning!" Ugh I think you're right, Dad!

At least he's having fun, right?!?!

So I posted earlier about my "exciting find" and how cool it was. Well I'm not sure how "cool" it is now! I heard a bunch of banging around in Kason's room so I went to see what he was up to...

He decided to dump out ALL of his toys at one time!!! I just laugh when he does this - he is so funny! Of course it's not so fun picking it all up, but he's a great helper and is definitely learning the joys of "clean-up time!"
